Scott Smith Announced as New GM for Dallas Charge

McKinney, Texas - (August 15, 2016) – The Dallas Charge announced today that Scott Smith will be the team’s General Manager effective immediately, while Kevin Shelton will continue with the organization in an advisory capacity. Smith is the founder and director of one of the most successful softball organizations in the country, the Texas Bombers, and brings with him a 28 year career in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. On the softball side of the equation, Smith’s Texas Bombers organization is nationally known and very highly regarded with 46 teams consisting of more than 500 players nationwide. Among the many accolades earned by the Bombers this season, the 18U team won the Colorado Fireworks/Sparkler Tournament, while the 16U Bombers took home the gold at ASA Nationals in Oklahoma City.

 

Smith is widely respected in the fastpitch community and has a clear understanding of what it takes to succeed at a high level. In recent years, he and the Bombers organization have helped more than 200 young women earn athletic scholarships to more than 85 different colleges and universities. On the management side of the equation, his unique blend of skills and experience allows him to bring a strong combination of organizational vision and operational expertise, as well as the ability to lead diverse personalities towards common goals, to the Dallas Charge.
