McKinney, TX - (August 11, 2016) – It was a night of firsts in McKinney as the Charge took on the Bandits in rubber match of a three game set. Lauren Haeger faced just one batter over the minimum and threw the first no-hitter in Dallas Charge history, leading her team to a 5-0 victory. Both Brittany Schutte and Nadia Taylor hit their first home runs of the season. Schutte’s was the first in her NPF career. The win gave the Charge the series win over the Bandits and was the club’s 18th win, one more than last season’s total.
The Charge scored two in the first and second innings and a single run in the third.
In the first the Charge loaded the bases on two hit and a walk. Chelsea Forkin then rolled a ground ball to short. The Bandits tried to turn two. Chicago got the force out at second before throwing the ball away allowing Renada Davis and Kylee Lahners to come home.
The Charge kept things going in the second when Schutte knocked an 0-1 pitch out of the park bringing home Taylor who had been hit by a pitch. The two-run bomb stretched the early lead to 4-0, Charge.
Finally, in the third, Taylor crushed a solo shot, giving Dallas a 5-0 advantage.
Haeger was masterful, setting the side down in order six of the seven innings. But for an error in the sixth, Haeger may have pitched a perfect game. She ran her record in the circle to 9-7 for the season.
Lacey Waldrop took the loss for the Bandits, lasting just one inning. Waldrop was responsible four of the Charge runs.
The Charge moved to 18-29, while the Bandits fell to 23-25. The Charge continue their season ending home stand with three games against the PA Rebellion.
