Charge Win Again, Take Series From Dawgs

The Woodlands, TX - (July 24, 2016) – The Dallas Charge pitched by committee on Sunday afternoon and beat the Scrap Yard Dawgs 5-3.  The win was Dallas' second in a row.  It was the third time this season the squad had back-to-back wins.  The victory gave them the series over the Dawgs for the first time in league history.

Lauren Haeger picked up the win in relief of Jill Compton who started, going three innings and allowing two runs on four hits.  Compton walked one and struck out four.  Haeger went two innings allowing one run and Morgan Melloh handled the last two innings in shutout fashion to help the Charge secure the win.

At the plate the Charge out hit the Dawgs eight to six.  Kylee Lahners had three hits and drove in two runs.  Haeger notched two singles with an RBI.  Ashley Burkhardt started the scoring in the third inning with a solo home run to center, her second of the year.

The Charge fell behind 1-0 in the second before responding in the next frame.  After Burkhardt's homer, Renada Davis and Taylor Gadbois both singled and then completed a double steal.  On the play the throw got away and Davis scored.  Haeger singled home Gadbois one out later, pushing the Charge advantage to 3-1.

The Dawgs got one back in the fourth making it 3-2.  In the top of the fifth Dallas scored two more.  A walk, error and Lahners hit brought home the Charge's fourth and fifth runs, making the score 5-2.

The Dawgs countered back with a run in the bottom half of the inning, but could muster no more offense as Melloh shut down their bats in the sixth and seventh.
