Chicago, IL - (July 19, 2016) - The Dallas Charge took an early 1-0, but surrendered five runs in the third and three in the fourth leading to a 9-1 loss to the Chicago Bandits Tuesday night at Rosemont Stadium. It was the Charge's second consecutive loss and fifth overall on this 10 game road swing.
Morgan Melloh took the loss for the Charge allowing five runs in two innings of work. Jill Compton came on in relief, giving up three runs in one and two-thirds innings. Andi Williamson finished up the last two plus innings. She surrendered one run on one hit and struck out four.
Taylor Gadbois scored the lone Dallas run. She singled to start the game. Stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice fly and came home on a long fly ball to left off the bat of Kylee Lahners.
Melloh had little trouble through two innings, but it came unraveled in the Bandits' half of the third. Three hits, three Charge errors and two walks led to five runs. Three more runs in the fourth put the game out of reach or the Charge, pushing the lead to 8-1. The Bandits added one more in the fifth to close out the scoring.
The Charge fell to 10-20 on the season. The Bandits improved to 16-18. The Charge will take on the Bandits again Wednesday starting at 11am.
