Charge Lose to Akron, Drop Series

Arkon, OH - (July 17, 2016) - The Charge could not hold an early 2-0 lead and lost 4-3 to the Akron Racers Sunday afternoon, dropping two of the three games in Akron.

The Charge out hit the Racers eight to seven, but a four run fourth inning highlighted bya two-run double by the Racers' Alex Hugo doomed Dallas.

The Charge jumped out two a lead in the second inning when Danielle Henderson doubled home Brianna Cherry.  They added another in the top of the fourth on a solo homer off the bat of Kaitlyn Richardson, stretching the lead to 2-0.

Charge starter Cheridan Hawkins cruised through the first three innings before running into trouble in the fourth.  Two singles, a stolen base and double tied the game at two.  A wild pitch and single later the Charge trailed 3-0.  That signaled the end of the night for Hawkins.  Jill Compton came on in relief but allowed another single that made the score 4-0 Akron.

The Charge made it interesting in the seventh scoring one run on three hits.  But the heart of the order could not plate the tying run and the game ended with the bases loaded.

The Charge will travel to Chicago for a two game set starting on Tuesday before moving finishing the road trip with three in Houston.
