Castillo and Davis Lead The Charge Over the Pride

San Diego, CA - (July 8, 2016) – Kaylyn Castillo and Renada Davis both homered and Lauren Haeger allowed just three hits and three runs to help the Dallas Charge beat the USSSA Pride for the first time in 2016, 4-3.

The Charge delivered nine hits in the game, all of them off of Pride starter Jolene Henderson.  Henderson lasted four innings allowing all of the Charge runs.

Taylor Gadbois, Davis and Kylee Lahners each had two hits for the Charge.

Castillo hit a leadoff homer in the second inning to stake the Charge to an early 1-0 lead.  Kylee Lahners upped the lead to two with an RBI single that scored Gadbois.

Kelly Kretschman homered to right field in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead in half, but the Charge answered back in the top of the fifth with a two-run bomb off the bat of Davis.  That hit made the score 4-1 and signaled the end of the night for Henderson.  She was relieved by Taylor Jordan.

The Pride scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth on no-hits. Four walks and a hit batter did the trick for the Pride, making the score 4-3.

Haeger struck out six and walked seven.  Morgan Melloh got the save coming in with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to induce a ground out, ending the game.

The Charge improved to 8-15.  The Pride lost just their fourth game of the season, falling to 17-4.  The two teams will finish the two game series Saturday night.
