Rebellion Take Game One 4-2

McKinney, TX - (July 4, 2016) – The PA Rebellion beat the Dallas Charge Monday night in front of a record crowd of 1140, 4-2 on the strength of Haltom City native Chaley Brickey’s bat.  Brickey was the only player in the game to notch two hits.  Her first was a solo blast into the lake in dead centerfield.  Rebellion starter Haylie Wagner got the win going four innings.  Teammate Emily Weiman threw three shutout innings to finish the game and collect the save.

Scoreless in the third inning, Kayla Winkfield started things off for the Rebellion with a double.  After a Charge miscue in the infield allowed Mandy Ogle to reach base safely, Alexa Peterson pulled a ball down the left field line scoring both Winkfield and Ogle, staking the Rebellion to a 2-0 lead.

The Charge responded immediately.  Kylee Lahners doubled to right field driving in Kaitlyn Richardson who had singled, cutting the lead in half.

Brickey quickly returned the lead to two runs with her second home run of the season, a no-doubter to the deepest park of Dallas Charge Stadium.

The Charge continued to fight back scoring a single run in the bottom of fourth to again cut the Rebellion lead to one.  A Brianna Cherry single, Rebellion error, ground out and Richardson single did the trick.

The Rebellion added one more in the sixth to return the margin back to two runs.  The Charge never made a series threat in the sixth or the seventh earning the Rebellion the victory.

Lauren Haeger went the distance for the Charge, picking up the loss.  She struck out five and walked just one.  Three of the Rebellion’s four runs were earned.

The Charge fell to 7-14.  The Rebellion improved to 9-16.  The Charge and Rebellion will finish the two game series tomorrow night at 7pm at Craig Ranch.
