Haeger and Charge Complete Sweep of Chicago

San Antonio, TX - (June 25, 2016) – The Dallas Charge scored eight runs in the fifth inning and Lauren Haeger threw a complete game shutout, carrying the Charge to a 9-0 win and a sweep of the two game series with Chicago at St. Mary’s University.  The victory marked the first time this season the Charge have won consecutive games and completed back-to-back shutouts.

Haeger notched her third win of the campaign going seven strong innings scattering five hits, fanning seven and walking just one.  Haeger also drove in a pair runs as part of the Charge fifth.  

Kylee Lahners, who returned from a hamstring injury, hit her league leading fifth home run of the season.  Lahners also walked and was hit by pitch twice.  She scored twice.

Kaylyn Castillo collected two of the Charge seven hits and was the only Dallas hitter with multiple hits. 

Brittany Schutte, a rookie, got her first hit in her NPF career, a single that drove in the first run of the game.

Rookie Shelby Turnier got the start for the Bandits.  She made it into the fifth and was chased from the circle by Schutte’s RBI single in favor of Sara Moulton who was unable to record an out before making way for Michelle Gascoigne.  Mouton faced four hitters allowing four runs on three hits.  Gascoigne threw two innings.  She allowed the one Charge run sixth, a solo shot from Lahners.

The Charge improved to 6-11.  Chicago dropped to 9-10.  The Charge will head to Colorado for a three game series against the Scrap Yard Dawgs in venues around the Denver area in conjunction with the Triple Crown Colorado Fireworks and Sparkler Tournaments.  The games are Tuesday through Thursday.
