McKinney, TX - (June 17, 2016) – The Dallas Charge beat Team USA 13-1 pounding out 13 runs on 11 hits Saturday night avenging yesterday’s loss in Oklahoma City. Nine different Charge batters delivered hits, Brianna Cherry and Caitlin Attfield each had two. Danielle Henderson drove in four with a pinch hit grand slam in the fourth that went deep into the night over the centerfield fence.
The Charge used their entire pitching staff in the win. Andi Williamson, Morgan Melloh, Jill Compton and Lauren Haeger collectively allowed four hits and one run. Williamson got the win, throwing the first two innings. She did not allow a base runner. Melloh took over in the third. She kept Team USA off the board, despite allowing three hits and two walks in two innings of work. Jill Compton came in in the fifth inning and tossed two more shutout innings. Haeger finished the game allowing one run in the seventh on one hit and two walks.
Renada Davis got the Charge on the board early with a first inning solo homer into the leftfield seats. The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth. A single and two hitter batters loaded the bases for Attfield with one out. An infield single scoring Cherry. Henderson, hitting for Taylor Gadbois, lifted a full count pitch out of the park to push the lead to 6-0.
The Charge erupted again in the sixth inning, this time putting up a seven spot. Dallas managed five hits and five free passes in the frame. The big blow was a Haeger bases loaded double down the right field line. It cleared the bases. When the inning ended the Charge held a 13-0 lead.
Team USA scratched out a run in the top of the seventh, before Bianka Bell struck out to end the game.
Dallas will take on Team USA again Saturday immediately after their 1pm NPF game against the Scrap Yard Dawgs at The Scrap Yard Sports Complex.
