Arkon, OH - (June 13, 2016) – The Dallas Charge overcame a 4-2 deficit with a five-run outburst in the top of the seventh inning to win and split the two games in Akron. The Charge collected 14 hits on their way to their fourth win of the season. Lauren Haeger got the win in the circle, going the distance for second time in 2016. She also hit her third home run in as many games.
Eight different Charge players got hits. Brianna Cherry and Danielle Henderson both had three, while Taylor Gadbois and Caitlin Attfield reached twice on base hits. Cherry scored twice and drove in one. Henderson drove in two.
The visiting Charge fell behind 2-0 after two frames. Heager cut the lead in half with a solo long ball over the centerfield fence in the top of four. Henderson drove in Cherry, who had doubled, in the top of the sixth to tie the game at two.
The Racers responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a two-run lead into the final inning.
Haeger drew a one-out four-pitch walk. Kylee Lahners singled. Kaitlyn Richardson rolled one to right to load the bases. Cherry kept things going reaching on a fielders choice that scored Ashley Burkhardt. Nikia Williams smashed one into left plating Lahners, knotting the game at four. Henderson followed with a sacrifice fly to right that brought home Richardson and gave the Charge their first lead of the contest.
The onslaught continued. Attfield slapped an infield single scoring Cherry and finally Gadbois punched a pinch into left field to plate the Charge’s fifth run of the inning and seventh of the game.
Dallas would need every run. Akron scored two in their last at bat but Haeger and the defense hung on for the victory.
Dallas improved to 4-3 on the season. Akron moved to 5-2. The Charge will return home for their first game in McKinney in 2016.
