Charge Fall to Akron in Series Opener

Akron, OH - (June 11, 2016) – The Dallas Charge fell to the Racers on the road 12-5 Saturday night.  Akron exploded for 12 runs in the first five innings on 15 hits and three Charge errors.  Only seven of the Racer runs were earned. 

The Charge, now 3-3 on the season, finally got in the board in the sixth via a Mikey Kenney sacrifice fly.  In the seventh, Brianna Cherry hit her first home run of the season, a solo shot centerfield.  Lauren Haeger followed with a two run bomb, her third homer of the season and second in two games.

Kaylyn Castillo went two for four with an RBI in her first action of the season back from playing in Japan.  Nadia Taylor also pickup two hits in the game.

Andi Williamson (0-3) took the loss, going three and one-third innings, allowing five runs, two earned.

Akron improved to 5-1.

The Charge will enjoy a day off tomorrow and concluded their five game road trip and the two games against Akron on Monday, June 13 before returning to McKinney for a Tuesday, June 14 home opener.
