Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Friday, June 3, 2016 – The Dallas Charge opened their second season with a victory, beating the PA Rebellion 5-2. Lauren Haeger laid down a squeeze bunt in the top of the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and put the Charge in front. Brianna Cherry followed with a two-RBI single to stretch the lead to three. Rookie Jill Compton got her first career win in the circle tossing three shutout innings in relief.
Nadia Taylor was three for four while Rookie Caitlin Attfield and catcher Vicky Galasso each collected two hits. Kaitlyn Richardson, the 2015 ALL-NPF First Baseman got the Charge on the board first, with a second inning two-run homerun to right field. In all the Charge amassed 12 hits, getting at least one from eight different players.
Haeger and Rookie Jill Compton were stellar in the circle. Haeger got the start, going four innings allowing just three hits and one earned run. Rookie Chaley Brickey did all of the damage for the Rebellion hitting a two-run home run to center in the bottom of the second frame. Haeger walked only one and struck out a pair. Compton came on in relief in the top of the fifth and after issuing a four pitch walk in her first ever NPF action, the Fresno St. star sat the next nine Rebellion hitters down in order, striking out the side in the seventh. The right hander finished with four punch outs.
