McKinney, TX – May 26, 2016 – The Dallas Charge have signed Fresno State’s Jill Compton to a three-year contract. The Oceano, California native is the 2015 and 2016 Mountain West Pitcher of the Year. She is one of three pitchers ever in the Mountain West to be named All-Conference in all four seasons of her college career.
Compton remarked, “To get the opportunity to play for the Dallas Charge and in the NPF this summer means everything to me. I'm so excited to play with and compete against some of the best players in the world.”
An 11-time conference pitcher of the week and 2016 Female Bob Duncan Bulldog of the Year recipient, Compton has put up the stats on par with the best pitchers in Mountain West history. Along with her many accolades in 2016 she had 18 more Mountain West Conference victories than any other pitcher in league history and 92 more strikeouts.
The two-time NFCA All-Region selection has written her name into the conference record book as the second-best leader in all-time wins (87), games started (133), complete games (86) and shutouts. When counting conference games only, she is first in wins, appearances, games started, complete games, shutouts, innings pitched and strikeouts.
Charge General Manager Kevin Shelton said. “Jill is a welcome addition to the roster this close to the start of the season. You can never have enough quality pitching. She has had an outstanding college career and is eager to compete at the highest level.”
