Charge Sign Brittany Schutte

McKinney, TX – May 6, 2016 –  The Dallas Charge announce the signing of former NFCA-All American Florida standout and Team USA veteran Brittany Schutte.

The Fountain Valley, California native played catcher at Florida where she appeared in the Women’s College World Series twice, 2010 and 2011.  In both seasons she earned WCWS All-Tournament Team honors.  In 2011 she was named NFCA 1st Team All-American as a result of her regular season accomplishments. That same summer she was a member of the U.S. National Team where she helped the squad win that summer’s World Cup.

Schutte said, “I am very thankful for this opportunity and excited to be a part of the Dallas Charge. I look forward to getting to play and compete with the best in the sport of softball.”

Schutte will be reunited with Charge Head Coach Jennifer Rocha.  Rocha coached Schutte in her days at Florida.  “Brittany is a great athlete,” Coach Rocha said. “With her natural strength and ability she brings both offensive and defensive depth to our roster.”

The Charge looks for Schutte to demonstrate her explosive sophomore season form.  That year she smashed Florida’s single-season home runs record with 22 blasts – including one grand slam.  Schutte also led the Gators with 48 walks and a .994 fielding percentage, while ranking third in RBI (69).

“We are pleased to add Brittany’s left handed power to our lineup,” Charge General Manager Kevin Shelton said.  “Her experience at Florida and on Team USA will help her adapt quickly to the league.  She’ll be a real asset as we continue to build the Dallas Charge tradition.”
