McKinney, TX – April 13, 2016 – The Dallas Charge have completed a trade for right handed pitcher, Katie Cotta. Cotta will be a rookie in the NPF this season and was signed as by the Dawgs as a free agent in the winter of 2015. The Dawgs got a late round 2018 draft pick in exchange.
Cotta had legendary high school and college careers. At Linden, Cotta was twice named player of the year after. She went 28-0 with a state-high 436 strikeouts as a senior and was named Cal-Hi Sports State Softball Player of the Year.
At Delta, she went 40-2 overall and 20-9 in conference play with 459 strikeouts and a .099 earned run average in 226 innings, and she hit .430. As a junior at Concordia, she went 20-1 with a 1.02 ERA and struck out 245 batters in 130.1 innings. She was named a first-team NAIA All-American. In her senior season, she was named the Golden State Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year after leading the conference with a 0.16 ERA and 264 strikeouts. She set an NAIA season record with nine no-hitters and lead her team to the NAIA National Championship in 2013.
