Dallas Charge Sign Texas Native Nicole Morgan

The Dallas Charge of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league are pleased to announce the signing of former Texas A&M standout Nicole Morgan. The former All-Big 12 and All-Region player has signed as a free agent after spending her rookie season with the Pennsylvania Rebellion. Morgan offers the Charge versatility on defense behind the plate and on the corners and provides a powerful right-handed bat to the lineup.

“We are pleased to add another Aggie and Texan to our squad.  Nicole, like many of the other Charge players, provides versatility and power to the team.  Her addition adds flexibility and depth that we’ll really need early in the season.  Nicole will be in her second year in the NPF, which on our roster, constitutes a seasoned veteran,” said Charge General Manager Kevin Shelton

Morgan was drafted 17th overall by the Rebellion in the 2014 National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) draft after hitting .373 with 15 homeruns and 57 RBIs as a senior. She appeared in 15 games during her rookie season and recorded 3 hits and 1 RBI in limited at-bats.

“Last year I learned that it doesn’t matter if you’re a rookie or a vet, you can still have a very important role on this team,” said Morgan. “I’m really looking forward to joining the Charge and being part of a new organization. New team means new people to get to know and mesh with. Being the first season means we get to set this team’s identity and what the attitude of this team will be.”

The former Aggie was named to the NFCA All-South Region team her junior year after hitting .315 with 16 homeruns and 55 RBIs. Following that 2013 season, Morgan was invited to the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp. In 2012, Morgan was named First Team All-Big 12 after hitting a team high .383 in conference play and adding 9 homeruns and 23 RBI on the season.

The Woodlands, Texas native was a 2010 graduate of College Park High School. As an all-around athlete she was named to both the Under Armour All-American high school softball team and was recognized in ESPN RISE Magazine for her basketball achievements in high school. She was also the Texas 5A State Champion in the shot put as a senior in 2010.

Morgan graduated from Texas A&M last fall with a degree in animal science. She has spent the last several months coaching a 12U Impact Gold team, the same organization she grew up playing with.

The Dallas Charge inaugural season kicks off at home on June 3, 2015 against the Pennsylvania Rebellion. For more information and questions about the Charge, contact us at [email protected] or call 724-CHARGE1 (724-242-7431). You can also follow the Charge on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
