Charge Sign Kahley Novak

May 30, 2015 –Dallas, TX — The Dallas Charge is thrilled to announce the signing of draftee Kahley Novak, the 16th overall draft pick in the 2015 National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) senior draft. The Clermont, Florida native became the highest draft pick in University of Central Florida (UCF) softball history., The speedy Novak holds the UCF career record for stolen bases with more than 100 in her career.

“Kahley brings needed speed to the Charge.  She stole 48 bases as a senior at UCF, which is impressive.  Kahley gives depth in the middle infield and a set of tools at the plate that we do not have in abundance.  She will fit right in and we are excited that she is a part of our inaugural team,” said Charge General Manager Kevin Shelton.

Novak is currently ranked 11th in the nation for stolen bases and has earned several honors for her accomplishments. In 2015, Novak was named First Team NFCA Mideast All-Region, her second time to receive this honors. Novak was a unanimous pick on for First Team All-American Athletic Conference and named to the 2015 All-AAC Tournament Team.  She was a finalist for Lowe’s Senior Class Award in 2015 and a NFCA D1 Scholar Athlete in 2013.

“I think that a lot of my experiences that I had at UCF, such as being a part of a group of girls who have worked extremely hard to be in their positions and who are passionate about softball, I will bring over to the Dallas Charge. I am also excited to make some new experiences with this team!” said Novak.

Novak’s devotion to others, whether it is to her teammates or her community, is apparent through her time at UCF. On the field, Novak encouraged her teammates towards excellence through both her words and her actions, which helped her senior class become one of UCF’s most successful classes to date. The Knights won the regular season and conference title for the first time in program history. Off the field, Novak spent much of her free time participating in charitable organizations, such as Friends of Jaclyn, Miracle League, Special Olympics, and more.

Novak is excited to continue her dedication to people throughout her time with the Dallas Charge and as a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth community. “It means the world to me to give back because softball has given so much to me. It has given me this huge platform to really show off the gifts that God has blessed me with and in turn I get to show Christ’s love to the people I have come into contact with. I love being able to raise awareness and help out with the community because those are the people that support us and I am grateful for that opportunity!” said Novak.
