Charge Sign Texas Native Renee Erwin

June 2, 2015 – McKinney, TX – The Dallas Charge is pleased to announce the signing of Anna, Texas native Renee Erwin. The former West Texas A&M standout had a stellar career setting multiple school and conference records and being named the NCAA Division II Daktronics Ron Lenz National Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015. Erwin is the only player in Division II history to win the Player of the Year award in back-to-back seasons.

Erwin posted a brilliant campaign her junior year, breaking the Lone Star Conference (LSC) record for runs scored in a single seasonwith 81 and being named the 2014 Lone Star Conference Female Athlete of the Year. That year she also helped lead the Buffs to an NCAA D-II National Championship. In her senior year, Erwin broke her own record for runs scored, with 83. After helping her team rise to a national title, Erwin is excited to join other professional players and chase NPF success.

“The thing I’m looking forward to most is playing with a group of girls with one common goal who want to be the best they can be,” Erwin said. “Everyone has that drive and pushes each other because we know to beat the best we must be the best!”

Erwin’s time on the diamond saw her break West Texas A&M and LSC career records in runs batted-in (244), runs scored (265), and homeruns. Her 62 homeruns were good enough to write her name at fourth place in the D-II history books. Erwin ended her career at West Texas A&M as arguably one of the most prolific players in Division II history. After such success, Erwin is excited to play at the next level.

“I came from a Division II school while most girls are from Division I,” Erwin said. “They have been playing at that level for years. Being in the mix of some of the greatest athletes is something I’m looking forward to!”

With her hometown just 30 minutes away from Dallas Charge field, playing for the Charge is like a homecoming for Erwin. “I’m from the DFW area and I cannot wait to be able to perform in front of family and friends,” Erwin said.
