Charge Sign Rookie Free Agent Tori Valos

June 2, 2015 – McKinney, TX – The Dallas Charge is excited to announce the signing of Tori Valos. From Bakersfield, CA, Valos recently graduated from George Washington (GW), where she was the all-time leader in doubles, home runs, RBIs, extra-base hits, and slugging percentage. A leader and brilliant offensive player, Valos is a strong addition to the team.

“Tori adds some necessary depth in the middle infield.  We love her energy and competitive nature.  Tori is a good teammate and is just the kind of athlete the Dallas Charge is looking for,” said Charge General Manager Kevin Shelton.

Valos is the second softball player from GW to play softball professionally after college. Throughout her time at GW, she broke several school records, which led to her being named MVP in 2012, 2013, and 2015. In addition, she was co-captain for 3 years in a row at GW (2013-2015). In 2014, she was ranked 5th in the nation for doubles, while in 2013 she ranking 26th for RBIs. In addition, in 2014, she was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and won Player of the Week multiple times. She was named GW’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2013.

“I am really looking forward to continuing to build up my knowledge about the game from my coaches and teammates. We have so much to offer each other about the game and I am just really excited to learn from and play against the best of the best,” said Valos.

Valos’ dedication to others is evident her leadership both on and off the field. On the field, she held co-captain honors and led the team in several areas, pushing each member of the team to be better. Off the field, Valos was a leader in nearly every organization that she had joined. From being the At-Large Representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Council to being a part of the Team Development Committee for Relay for Life, she encouraged each of her classmates to greatness. In addition, Valos participated in several community service projects and was a part of the Janssen Leadership Academy and GW’s Grassroot Colonial Coach Project.

Valos is excited to become a member of the Dallas-Forth Worth community and the Dallas Charge.

“This game has given me so much to live for and, without the support of the community, I wouldn’t be here. Their support makes the game so much more fulfilling because you’re not only playing for your team, but you’re playing for the community,” said Valos.
