Charge Sign Draftee Kylee Lahners

McKinney, TX – The Dallas Charge are excited to announce the signing of 2015 National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) draftee Kylee Lahners. The former Washington Husky was a 2014 NFCA All-American and four-time member of the All-Pac 12 team. Lahners provides versatility that will benefit the Charge at the plate and in the field.

Over her tenure at the University of Washington, Lahners was called upon to play almost every position between the infield and outfield. Head Coach Jennifer McFalls believes that her versatility will provide immense opportunity for her in the lineup now that she has joined the team.

“She is a tremendous hitter that can help us offensively, so the fact that she is so versatile on defense will continue to create opportunities to have her in the lineup,” McFalls said.  “Primarily I believe she will help us in the outfield and at third base.”

Lahners wrote her name in the Washington history books as third all-time for homeruns, hitting 54 in her career. While holding down centerfield for the Huskies her senior year, Lahners led the team with a 1.000 fielding percentage. She also led the team at the plate with 54 walks and a .544 on-base percentage while posting a .386 batting average and a .771 slugging percentage.

Hailing from a program that has produced NPF players Danielle Lawrie, Ashley Charters, Jenn Salling, Nikia Williams, Kimi Pohlman, Victoria Hayward, and Bryana Walker, Lahners is excited to represent Washington at the next level.

“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to continue playing the sport that I love at the next level,” Lahners said. “This is a new chapter in my life and I can’t wait to meet some amazing people. The level of play in the NPF is obviously the highest level that you can play, because it is the best of the best!”

After living on the west coast, Lahners is looking forward to this new opportunity to play in front of a big Texas crowd. “I’m very excited to play in the state of Texas with such supportive softball fans,” Lahners said. “I know Texans love their fastpitch softball, so it’s going to be really exciting to represent the sport in front of this die hard softball community.”

Looking beyond the accolades she garnered in her career at Washington, she was a constant leader on and off the field for the Huskies. The Charge is excited to see her expand the same leadership into the Dallas-Fort Worth community.
