Charge Stop Slide, Shutout Rebellion

WASHINGTON, PA. – July 16, 2015 —The Pennsylvania Rebellion came into Thursday night’s game looking to complete a four-game sweep of the Dallas Charge, but thanks to two home run balls in the first and fourth innings, Dallas was able to prevent the sweep and pull out a 3-0 victory. Vanessa Stokes earned the win for the Charge while Miranda Kramer took the home defeat. Pennsylvania looked to carry over the offensive momentum gained from last night’s 1-0 victory as back-to-back singles from Whitney Arion and Haruna Sakamoto began the evening for the Rebellion. Stokes, however, was able to work out of the early jam and eventually hit her groove in the circle. Stokes pitched 5.1 innings of scoreless softball en route to her fifth victory of the season. After being held scoreless last night, the Charge wasted no time getting their bats going in this one. Taylor Thom hit a solo home run that gave the Charge a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Nicole Morgan extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning with a two run blast of her own off of reliever Emily Weiman. Despite getting runners on base, including a bases loaded situation in the sixth, the Rebellion were unable to score against Stokes and the Dallas defense, resulting in the 3-0 defeat.

The Charge will next be in action on July 17 at Akron.
