ROSEMONT, Ill – July 24, 2015 – The Dallas Charge bounced back after two tough outings to win for the first time ever on the Bandits home field. The Charge won in impressive fashion, 9-2, hammering out 16 hits. Lauren Haeger earned her fifth win in the circle going the distance. Michelle Gascoigne got the loss, lasting just over one inning before being relieved by Lacy Waldrop. Gascoigne allowed four runs, four earned in just over one frame of work.
Six Charge batters had multiple hits. Renada Davis and Lauren Haeger each tallied three. Brianna Cherry and Mikey Kenney both homered in the win. The Charge improved to 13-22 on their inaugural season. The Bandits slipped to 23-11.
Things got rolling for the Charge early as the scored one in the first, three in the second and another in the third, building a 5-0 lead. Davis moved back to her usual lead off spot and started the game with a double. After Eri Yamada sacrificed her over to second Haeger collected the first of her three hits, driving Davis home with a single up the middle.
In the second Taylor Thom tripled and Cherry walked. Kenney drove the ball over the left field fence for her third round tripper of the season.
The Charge scratched out another run in the third when Kazuki Watanabe knocked in Kenney with a grounder to third, extending the lead to 5.
In the six Yamada plated Watanabe with a sac fly to center making the advantage 6-0.
The Bandits answered in bottom of the sixth with two runs, tightening the game at 6-2.
In their final at bat Dallas left no doubt, scoring three more times. Singles by Cherry and Kenney were sandwiched between outs. Davis followed with a double scoring them both. Yamada promptly singled home Davis with the Charge’s ninth and final run of the night.
The win moves the Charge to four games ahead of the PA Rebellion for the final spot in the Championship Series in mid-August.
The Charge are back in action again tomorrow night in Chicago at 7:05pm
