Charge Win 1-0 to Close Out Marathon Road Trip

Columbus, OHIO- Aug 1, 2015 – Morgan Melloh tossed a complete game 2-hit shutout to lead the Charge past the Arkon Racers in Columbus, OH, 1-0.  Sarah Pauly was the hard luck loser allowing just three hits and one run.  Melloh improved to 2-6, lowering her ERA to 2.46.  Pauly dropped to 9-4 on the season.

The Charge got a much needed win in the last game of a long 14 game, 19-day road trip.  The win keeps the Charge at least 3.5 games ahead of the PA Rebellion for the fourth and final spot in the Championship Series.  The Charge have eight games remaining, five against the 1st place USSSA Pride on the road and three at home to close out the regular season against the Chicago Bandits.  The Rebellion have one more at Chicago and then six against Akron.

The Charge went to 15-25 on their inaugural season.  Akron fell to 19-20 with nine to play.

The visitors managed the only run of the game aided by two Akron errors, Kaitlyn Richardson plated Eri Yamada with one of the squads three hits, a single down the right field line.  Melloh would make it hold up.

The Charge will travel to Sugar Land, TX and play the USSSA Pride on Aug 3 at Constellation Field.
