McKinney, TX – August 10, 2015 – Lauren Haeger allowed just one hit Monday night at The Ballfields at Craig Ranch to lead the Charge past the Chicago Bandits 3-0. Haeger fanned nine and walked three in the complete game shutout. Lacey Waldrop took the loss for the Bandits. The Charge collected three runs on five hits in Waldrop’s four innings of work.
The game marked the second time Haeger one-hit the Bandits at home. She improved her record to 6-7 on the season and lowered her ERA to 3.01. Haeger leads the team in innings pitched (97.2) and strikeouts (86).
The Charge broke out on top early scoring two in the first and one in the third, all the runs coming on the long ball. Nadia Taylor hit her fourth bomb into the lake to stake the home squad to a first inning 2-0 lead. In the third, Kaitlyn Richardson hit a solo shot the fell in the right center field bleachers. It was her first of the season and her NPF career.
Haeger cruised in the circle for most of the game. In the sixth a Charge miscue was followed by the Bandits only hit of the game, a little Texas leaguer into short center for Megan Blank. Taylor Edwards walked on eight pitches to load the bases. Haeger dug in and battled Kristen Verdun, eventually earning the strike out to end the threat.
The Charge will take on the Bandits again Tuesday night at Craig Ranch. First pitch, 7pm.
