McKinney, TX- November 23, 2015 – Dallas Charge General Manager Kevin Shelton continued to solidify the roster for the upcoming season and beyond by re-signing outfielder Brianna Cherry and pitcher Sarah Purvis. Both inked two-year deals locking them up through the summer of 2017.
Cherry returns for her third year in the league and second with the Charge. Added to the roster last year after an outstanding tryout, she finished the season with the team’s second highest batting average (.302) and On-Base Plus Slugging % (OPS, .813). The UL alum should be an important contributor for the Charge, delivering power and consistency at the plate.
Purvis returns for her second campaign with the Charge after seeing limited action in 2015. She adds necessary depth to a solid pitching staff. “Solid and experienced arms are hard to find,” said GM Kevin Shelton. “Sarah was key to helping us stay ready for action last summer. Hopefully this coming season she’ll see more action. We know she can contribute. We have to help make sure she has some opportunities to demonstrate her capability.”
“2016 is coming together nicely. We’ll continue to try to extend our current players into the future to maximize stability, add the appropriate free agents while preparing to optimize our limited draft picks. I’m very optimistic about the upcoming season,” Shelton said.
