NPF Veteran Angeline Quiocho Signs with Dallas Charge
Dallas, TX—February 24, 2015–The Dallas Charge are pleased to announce the signing of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) veteran Angeline Quiocho. Entering her sixth year in the NPF, Quiocho brings a wealth of experience to the new organization. After graduating from BYU in 2010, Quiocho has become a NPF fan-favorite and embodies the Dallas Charge brand with her committed effort to growing the sport and league.
“Ever since I’ve been given the opportunity to play for the NPF, I’ve bought in to helping grow the league any way I can. When I heard about the addition of the Dallas Charge and the expansion to five teams, I was more than excited for the NPF. I’m even more excited to bring my five years of experience to the Charge and representing this organization,” said Quicoho.
Quiocho is familiar with expansion teams as she has spent the last three seasons on new franchises—the Pennsylvania Rebellion, NY/NJ Comets, and Carolina Diamonds. Last season, Quiocho hit 3 homeruns and had 5 RBIs in 50 at-bats. As a member of the NY/NJ Comets in 2013, Quiocho hit .252 with 3 homeruns and 8 RBIs. Beyond her power and speed at the plate, Quiocho offers the Charge versatility on defense as an outfielder and third baseman.
Dallas Charge GM, Kevin Shelton says, “Angie brings a special dimension to our new team. Her experience in the league, specifically with expansion teams, will be a valuable help for our rookies and veterans alike. Quiocho’s connection to the fan base will also serve us well. Kids love her. Her energy on the field and in the community is critical to the Dallas Charge mission. On the field Angie provides veteran leadership and needed defensive flexibility. We are excited to welcome her to our squad.”
Quiocho left BYU as the all-time leader in career homeruns, hits, total bases, stolen bases and runs scored at BYU. In 2010, she was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year after leading the NCAA with 90 RBIs and hit .403 with 28 homeruns. In her career, she was a four-time All MWC player and three-time member of the NFCA All-Region team. After finishing her eligibility with the Cougars, she signed with the Tennessee Diamonds as a free agent in 2010.
“I’m excited to wear the Charge uniform this summer and play in the Dallas area. As a veteran, I hope to bring my five years of experience to the Charge and bring awareness to the rookies about all the NPF entails and the importance of continuing to grow the league,” said Quiocho.
Another skill the veteran will bring to the Dallas/Fort Worth community is the ability to entertain and connect with fans. Charge fans may want to start preparing for Quiocho’s dance moves!
