Charge Sign Free Agent Nadia Taylor

June 1, 2015 – McKinney, TX – The Dallas Charge is excited to announce the signing of Houston, TX native Nadia Taylor. This will be Taylor’s 2nd year in the NPF after playing a year with the Akron Racers. Before the Racers, she was a four-year standout from the University of Texas. Nadia will be joining her former assistant, now head coach Jennifer McFalls, and teammate Taylor Thom. At the University of Texas, Thom and Taylor held down the left side of the infield, shortstop and 3rd base respectively.

 

Nadia is excited for this new opportunity and to be back in her home state playing the sport she loves. “I’m so honored and excited to be apart of this new franchise. I’m blessed to have this opportunity and to share it with my coach from Texas is the ultimate treat. I’m dzfthrilled to play in front of Texas fans once again and I believe this franchise team here in Texas will help our sport grow. We’re young and we all love the game so this will make for a great summer for us.”

 

Last summer, Taylor signed onto the Racers as a free agent. She made her first appearance for the Racers in their opening day game against the Bandits. Taylor would end up making appearances in 21 of their games, recording a .152 overall batting average and .914 fielding percentage.

 

Prior to the NPF, Taylor had a decorated career at the University of Texas. After leaving the Forty Acres, Taylor’s name is ranked among the top 10 in almost every single career offensive category. She also proved a valuable asset on defense, starting 234 games over her tenure. Along with these feats, came All-Region and All-Big 12 team honors all four years and twice she was named Academic All-Big 12 nada 1st Team.

 

Her senior season at UT, Taylor was named NFCA 2nd Team All-Central Region and 2nd Team All-Big 12. She finished the year with a .355 batting average and led the Longhorns with 16 doubles and was third on the team with 11 homeruns. In 2011, during her junior year she was named All-Central Region 1st team and All-Big 12 2nd Team. Her sophomore season, she was ranked 2nd during Big 12 play with a .465 batting average, 4 homeruns along with 14 RBI. Taylor finished the year with the second best batting average on the team of .368, which led to 1st Team finishes in both All-Central Region and All-Big 12 honors. In her freshman campaign she was dubbed 1st Team All-Central Region and 2nd Team All-Big 12.

 

tnTaylor took her 5th year of athletic eligibility and play basketball for the University of Texas during the 2012-2013 season. The guard Taylor registered career highs in points(8), minutes(18), FG’s made(3), free throws made(2), rebounds(3) and steals(1), all in their Big 12 game against the Kansas Jayhawks.

 

After balancing collegiate softball and basketball, Taylor graduated from the University of Texas with her degree in physical culture and sports where she was also named a six-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll honoree.
