AKRON, OH. – July 20, 2015 – The Dallas Charge continued their hot hitting, banging out 14 hits on Tuesday night. The Charge scored in five of the seven innings to win going away 9-0. Morgan Melloh picked up her first win of the season, pitching six strong innings, allowing six hits, while walking just two. The win marks the third time in Charge history that that squad has won back-to-back games.
Lauren Haeger, Brianna Cherry and Angeline Quiocho eached homered. Haeger delivered three RBI. Renada Davis lead the Charge with three hits. She scored twice and knocked in two, with two doubles. Kaitlyn Richardson, Eri Yamada, Haeger and Quicho each collected two hits.
The Charge got it going in the first when Haeger hit a two-out full count pitch over the right centerfield fence. Yamada, who reached in front of Haeger on an error also scored to give the visitors an early 2-0 lead.
Things counted to go the Charge’s way in the second. Three doubles to left field by Taylor Thom, Davis and Davis drove in two more. The 4-0 lead chased the Racer starter Rachel Fico for Hannah Campbell.
Cherry hit a solo homer in the third to push the lead to 5-0.
The Charge added two more in the fifth and seventh. Quiocho blasted her fourth home run of the season. It was a two run blast to left. In the seventh Davis scored Mikey Kenney from first with a double to left. Haeger eventually drove her in with a single to left to complete the scoring.
The win improved the Charge record to 12-20 and dropped Akron to 14-16.
The Racers welcome Dallas back to Firestone Stadium on Tueday for the final game of the series. The Charge will try for their first three game win streak in club history.
